Research

We participate of the following researchs

"Águas de Corguinho" Project

(WCS-Pantanal/UFMS)

Species Coexistence Research Group/UFMS collaborates with WCS Brazil to promote protection and recuperation of the  Pantanal watersheds and regional biodiversity by  scaling up  its effective efforts to implement sustainable land use practices on individual rural properties through municipality-scale sustainable land use planning (Marxan), practices, and capacity building.    The municipality of Corguinho   encompasses the headwater stream basins of the Negro, Taboco and Aquidauana rivers, which supply a large proportion of the water that forms the southern Pantanal wetlands.

Ecological and Economical Zoning

(ZEE-MS)

The program has the mission to build an integrated base of scientific, technological knowledge and innovation in Mato Grosso do Sul to support decision-making in biodiversity management.

Biota - MS

In this project, we intended to approach agendas of science, technology and innovation - Biota-MS - through a broad mobilization of researchers from different organizations for biodiversity mapping and environmental services aimed at effectively include biodiversity dimension in planning territorial in the Centro Oeste region, taking as an example the Miranda River Basin in Mato Grosso do Sul. In general, the results will be expressed in indicators that undergo a careful selection process, based on rationality fundamentals, implementation and performance.

PELD Serra da Bodoquena

Studies related to the distribution and abundance of species assemblages along environmental gradients consider biological communities vary spatially and seek to establish which environmental factors that can determine the spatial variation. This spatial approach can be focused on different scales, certain way be studied site (local scale) or regional scale by bringing together data from different areas. Therefore, this project proposes the use of sampling protocol in common environmental gradient to other PELD sites, in order to promote the integrated use of the data for future ecological analyzes on a large scale. Networks of networks

The aim of this project is to articulate an advanced core synthesis on ecological networks in Mato Grosso do Sul state. It will provide the first major effort of biodiversity scientists area around a project of synthesis of large numbers of complex data in ecology, collected predominantly in the state.
